Narendra Damodardas Modi is the 15th and current Prime Minister of India since 26 May 2014. Modi is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament (MP) from Varanasi.

Life and Carrer
Modi was born on 17 September 1950 to a family of grocers in Vadnagar in Mehsana district. At young age he ran, a tea stall with his brother around a bus terminus. He was an average student but a keen debater and completed his schooling in Vadnagar. Later, he started working in the staff canteen of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation. He became a propagandist of the RSS until the time he lived there and in the future received some RSS training in Nagpur. Modi completed got his Master’s degree in political science from Gujarat University, which is located in Ahmedabad.

- Narendra Modi was declared the Best Chief Minister in the country by a survey conducted in 2006 by India Today.
- e-Ratna award by the Computer Society of India.
- Gujarat Ratna by Shri Poona Gujarati Bandhu Samaj.
- Asian Winner of the fDi Personality of the Year Award for 2009 by FDi magazine.

Personality and Image
Narendra Modi is a workaholic yet reticent person. Being a vegetarian and living a frugal life, he also likes to write poems in Gujarati. He is a controversial figure both within India and internationally but a very good speaker, and he always tends to pull the crowd with his speeches.
