In this article, I’ll show you four little-known tips for repairing a scratched CD<\/a> or DVD and recovering the data<\/a> on it.<\/p>\n Everyone has had trouble with using a scratched CD or DVD<\/a>. The theory is this: a CD \/ DVD player or player uses a laser beam to read data from the disc<\/a>.<\/p>\n This laser<\/a> beam goes through the protective plastic layer and reads the actual recording metal layer<\/a>. If the protective plastic layer is scratched<\/a>, the laser will not be able to pass, resulting in an unreadable disc<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the case of data<\/a> CDs, the CD \/ DVD player cannot read the CD \/ DVD correctly, resulting in read errors<\/a>, while in the case of audio \/ video discs<\/a>, the CD player skips when we reproduce it.<\/p>\n If we somehow manage to soften this protective<\/a> layer again, then the laser will reach the data and read it, now there are many ways to achieve<\/a> this using common household items, as explained below:<\/p>\n 1). Toothpaste – Yes! Toothpaste is our first scratched CD \/ DVD fixer<\/a>, you can use any non-gel toothpaste for this, just put a very small amount on the scratched area<\/a> and buff it gently with a cotton swab on the scratched part of cd\/dvd.<\/p>\n Sometimes the paste can cause new minor scratches<\/a> but they are only superficial. Now just wash the cd<\/a> with water.<\/p>\n 2). If the above trick doesn’t work, try a metal polish<\/a> like Brasso, rubbing gently with a soft cotton<\/a> ball followed by applying petroleum<\/a> jelly.<\/p>\n 3). Baking Soda: Make a small amount of baking soda paste<\/a> and apply with a soft cotton cloth to polish<\/a> the scratch. You need to clean the baking soda before using the disc.<\/p>\n 4).
