McAfee Stinger is a stand-alone antivirus utility that detects and removes specific viruses. It is not meant for full anti-virus protection, but rather a utility to assist administrators and users when coping with an infected system.

It uses sofiscated next generation scan engine technology, including process scanning, digitally signed DAT files, and scan performance optimizations.

Stinger detects and cleans a wide range of viruses and other types of malware, without slowing down the PC. You needed to have another antivirus software installed on the computer to ensure that the PC is protected against malware attacks and infections. However, McAfee AVERT Stinger can double the protection.

It doesn’t require complex configurations, and its virus is easy to remove than a traditional antivirus program. Stinger is not a general antivurs it removes  over 3,000 viruses specified by McAfee.

By default, Stinger will fix and repair any viruses it detects, and you can export scan results under the File menu. McAfee Stinger works quickly, summarizing results in the interface window.

Configuration option is quite advanced, and you will be able to specify what you want the program to do when it discovers a virus in your system, if you want to see a list of scanned files on the interface and an assortment of options relating to virus detection.

It can also Scans’ compressed files and self-extracting executables, but the only drawback with stinger is you cannot update the software- you will have to reinstall it.

The application may use high computer resources since its only job is to detect viruses and fix them.
