You will also see a heat map showing different colors indicating the level of resource usage, network and disk counters, grouping by process type.  The Blue Screen of Death also known as a stop error, bluescreen, Blue Screen of Doom, BSoD, has been updated with a simpler and modern design with less technical information displayed.

Security and Safety Features

In windows, 8 there are two new authentication methods tailored towards touchscreens (PINs and picture password). Windows Defender has been improved by the addition of antivirus capabilities. Windows 8 have been integrated with SmartScreen filtering, which helps with “Secure Boot” functionality on UEFI systems to protect against malware infecting the boot process.

With Parental control’s features, parents can monitor and manage their children’s activities on a device with activity reports and safety controls.  System recovery can be done through the new “Refresh” and “Reset” functions, including system recovery from USB drive.

Other Features and Functionality

Internet Explorer 10 is bundled with both a desktop program and a touch-optimized app, and includes improved support for HTML5, CSS3, and hardware acceleration. However, the Interner Explorer app does not support plugins or ActiveX components, but includes a version of Adobe Flash Player that is optimized for touch and low power usage.

Windows 8 can detect the insertion of a SIM card and automatically configure connection settings (including APNs and carrier branding), track and reduce bandwidth use on metered networks.

Windows store apps is a new style of application and is optimized for touch screen environments and will be more specialized than current desktop applications. Apps can be run either in a full-screen mode, or be snapped to the side of a screen.

Once you start to get used to where things are using it won’t get confusing. Every app you install on the new modern interface is shown in multiple colored squares on your screen. Each square acts as a shortcut to open the program and each panel is fully customizable, so you can group apps together.

A simple tip for easier navigation is to press the windows key and start typing the name of a program that you want to use.

If you prefer to work with the desktop in the traditional way, then you’ll want to hit the “desktop” option from the start screen. The moment you switch to the traditional desktop mode; it loads/shuts down faster; it also clogs your PC memory less.
